IU, Regenstrief study: Cognitive training effects differ by older adult's education level

INDIANAPOLIS -- The first study to investigate the effects of cognitive training on the cognitive functioning of older adults by education level has found that individuals with fewer than 12 years of schooling benefit more from cognitive training than their more highly educated counterparts.

Dr. Bruce A. Molitoris is one of five new distinguished professors

INDIANAPOLIS -- Five Indiana University scholars and researchers have been promoted to distinguished professor, the highest academic rank within the institution. The appointments were approved today by the IU Board of Trustees at their meeting on the campus of Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis.

Cavaghan receives ledership award

Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine Melissa Cavaghan received the 2016 Women's History Month Leadership Award for part-time faculty. The award is sponsored by the Office for Women and Office of Student Involvement. The award is one of several that go to outstanding women leaders on campus by demonstrating qualities such as a committment to teaching or service. The award was announced as part of Women's History Month.

Inaugural Christiansen Educator Named

Dilly Christen Dilly is the first Philip A. Christiansen Educator in Gastroenterology and Hepatology. Dilly joined the Department of Medicine in 2015 and the Christensen appointment runs through June 30, 2019. Christensen founded the GI division and served as its chief from 1958 to 1984. The endowment in his name provides funds for promoting education for GI fellows and other learners.

IT certification awarded

Department of Medicine Manager of Information Technology Jason Bozarth has been granted the Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC) certification from the information technology governance group ISACA. Areas covered in preparation for the certification include risk management and security goals for information systems.
