Katie joined the Krannert Institute of Cardiology in January 2012 where she has helped implement the first comprehensive cardiovascular genetics program in the state of Indiana.
At Indiana University, Katie is involved with clinical research and biobanking efforts in the Division of Cardiology. She also serves as a lecturer and clinical supervisor for the IU Genetic Counseling Program, training students in the growing subspecialty of cardiovascular genetics.
Clinically, Katie provides genetic counseling for families with or at-risk for an inherited cardiovascular disease. She works with both adults and children. She focuses primarily on inherited arrhythmias and cardiomyopathies, though she also sees families with aortopathies, congenital heart defects, and genetic syndromes.
Katie is certified by the American Board of Genetic Counselors (ABGC). She received her Masters of Science degree in Medical Genetics from the Indiana University School of Medicine Genetic Counseling Program. Katie is an active member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC) and the Heart Rhythm Society (HRS). She also serves as the Vice President for the Indiana Network of Genetic Counselors (INGC).
